VOCs

The  Art Colletion in 2023

From the experiences and interests of Supmanee Chaisansuk regarding air quality, she often recalls what she studied when she used to work as a research institution about indoor air quality. The imagery within her words depicts the air in motion tainted with masses of volatile chemicals and both dense and diluted emissions from materials within a room. Tiny particles of dust seep in from the outside through wall cracks, doors, and windows. These insidious pollutants may be present in every corner of the air we breathe. Even though we might believe being indoors is safe, there can be hidden dangers.

This leads to the creation Supmanee 's artwork, using symbols of smoky haze contaminated with vibrant colors of chemicals to evoke a feeling of freshness but conceal the underlying danger. The spaces, walls, openings, and geometric shapes convey consumption and what humanity produces in response to our need for shelter and utility.

In addition to creating images that contrast beauty and danger, she aims to make viewers aware of what's happening, not just with PM2.5 dust but also the possibility of inhaling pollutants from certain materials and products surrounding us, like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emitted at room temperature. Although pollutants may sometimes be diluted, they can accumulate and affect our health without us noticing. This also raises the questions for human, both generate and those affected of how to and find the ways to live with these problems
